Quick Tip

Targeted dry-topping or moist-topping units not only improve the speed and accuracy of the topping process compared to hand topping, they also have catch pans to quickly accumulate and reuse toppings that otherwise would be wasted.

Problem: How can I quickly add toppings like nuts, chocolate chips and streusel to muffins and cupcakes while saving on depositing costs?

Solution: Dry-topping and streusel depositors from Hinds-Bock allow bakers to save time and labor while reducing waste.

Hand-applying expensive toppings results in high labor costs, slow speeds and lots of waste.

Hinds-Bock dry-topping machines and moist-streusel depositors are available in single- or multi-lane formats. Used by wholesale and industrial bakeries, they dramatically reduce labor costs on the production line and cut down on waste. Tese savings, on an annual basis, frequently pay for the equipment. Teir labor savings and accuracy make for an easy return on investment, especially in high-speed applications.

Dry-topping machines are versatile and can deposit free-flowing dry toppings such as nuts, chocolate chips, sprinkles, powdered and granulated sugar, flour and oat flakes.

Moist-streusel depositors can handle difficult streusels with high fat percentages without bridging or packing. Te machine’s unique design allows it to be tuned in order to adjust the appearance of the deposited moist streusel. Te topping can be targeted for products like muffins or cupcakes, or can be broadcast-spread onto larger applications like cakes or pies.

Both the dry-topping and moiststreusel depositors use customized, targeted chutes that accurately place the toppings on the products’ surface, reducing waste and cost. Tey can be designed and built to place the topping on a stationary or moving target at a variable or high rate of speed.

Constructed from stainless steel, the machines can be manufactured with portable cantilevered frames, rolled in or out when necessary, or to be mounted on a conveyor. Features include variable-speed servo drives, an operator interface with formula storage for easy operator setup and integral stainless steel hoppers. Quick-change tooling is available for different deposit center-lines.

For more than 30 years, HindsBock has manufactured fillers, depositors, transfer pumps and icers for bakery applications, as well as further automation such as conveyors, denesters, heat-sealers, lidders, etc. For more information, please see the Hinds-Bock website www.hinds-bock.com or email to info@hinds-bock.com.
