George Weston Bakeries, Bay Shore, N.Y., launched breads under the Arnold
Lofthouse, owned by Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products Inc., Downers Grove, Ill., launched Danish coffeecakes and decadent brownies under the Lofthouse Bakery brand. The convenient thaw-and-sell brownies are available in double chocolate — rich chocolate brownies with semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips and chunks — and double chocolate nut made with fresh walnuts. Danish coffeecakes also are available in convenient thaw-and-sell varieties in seven flavors, including mixed berry, a blend of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and marionberry, drizzled with icing and topped with streusel; bear claw, a traditional almond paste, topped with sliced almonds and sweet icing; butter streusel, topped with brown sugar streusel and sweet icing; cream cheese, cheese-filled cake drizzled with sweet icing and topped with streusel; German chocolate, German chocolate filling, sweet pecans, coconut and chocolate icing; pecan, sweet crunchy pecans topped with maple-flavored icing and streusel; and apple, chunks of apple topped with cinnamon streusel and sweet icing. Lofthouse Danish coffeecakes contain 0 g trans fat per serving and no tropical oils.
Marie Callendar, Memphis, Tenn., introduced Lattice Cherry Pie to its line of frozen, ready-to-bake fruit pies and thaw-and-serve cream pies. The pie is made with Michigan cherries, baked in a flaky lattice crust and topped with sugar crystals. Marie Callendar's pies are available in the freezer section of supermarkets nationwide for a suggested retail price range of $6.49 to $7.49.
