AMF Bakery Systems, a Richmond, Va.-based subsidiary of Markel Ventures, has purchased Baking Technology Systems Inc. (BAKETECH), Tucker, Ga., a supplier of ovens and other related equipment to high-speed bread and bun bakeries. The new entity has been renamed AMF/BAKETECH.

"During this process we received clear confirmation that this combination with AMF will best serve our customers and the people who helped build this company,” said BAKETECH co-founder Geri Walker, who will continue as president of AMF/BAKETECH. “We have very similar values with the folks at AMF when it comes to innovation, taking care of our people, and especially taking care of our customers.”

The announcement came nearly two months after BAKETECH founders Walker, Stephen Smith and Robert Miller signed a Letter of Intent to merge into AMF.
