Breast cancer awareness gets sweet support
Foodservice outlets nationwide are once again supporting breast cancer awareness by featuring limited-edition Otis Spunkmeyer® Pink Cookies on their menus.
The Pink Cookie, a chocolate cookie with pink candy-coated chocolate pieces, is available for purchase by restaurants and other foodservice outlets from Aug. 1–Oct. 31. Operators can offer the cookie as a special dessert or in conjunction with promotional events that raise awareness and money for local breast cancer programs. Last year, Otis Spunkmeyer customers baked and served approximately 10 million Pink Cookies. Otis Spunkmeyer LLC has donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® at least $100,000 in connection with the Pink Cookie program.
“Every year the foodservice industry rallies around the cause to fight breast cancer. Our customers anticipate and embrace the Pink Cookie as a starting point for creating their own unique promotions and fundraisers,” said Judy Karner, vice president of foodservice marketing for Otis Spunkmeyer, in a press release. “We are proud to offer a product that makes a positive difference in local communities and on a national level through our partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization we admire for its tireless efforts to end breast cancer forever.”
