PepsiCo acquires Stacy's Pita Chip
PepsiCo's Frito-Lay unit strengthened its portfolio of healthful snacks with the acquisition of Stacy's Pita Chip Co., a manufacturer of pita chips and soy crisps based in Randolph, Mass.
Frito-Lay says Stacy's Pita Chip Co., which has annual sales of about $50 million, will operate as a separate unit of Frito Lay North America. Stacy's Pita Chip Co. recently opened a 183,000-sq.-ft. plant in Randolph.
"Our No. 1 complaint here at Stacy's is 'difficulty finding your pita chips,' and now we will finally be able to get our chips into the mouths of those consumers who have been patiently waiting," Mark Andrus, Stacy's Pita Chip Co.'s co-founder, said.
