Muffin Day drew more than 1,000 guests and included a variety of events. One activity, the muffin eating contest, drew 10 teams that competed to eat the most blueberry muffins in six minutes. Megan Sutton, Joe Cavaretta and Jason Humphrey of the Red Cross team took first place.

Other events included frozen muffin hockey and a scavenger hunt won by the Muffin TV team. The prize included a one-year supply of Main Street Gourmet muffin batter or cookie dough.

Many attendees presented recipes for a chance to win the Creative Muffin Contest. Kathy Mollica, a Cuyahoga Falls resident, won the contest with her Super Chocolate Funky Monkey Muffin that complies with the South
Beach Diet.

Muffin Day was a success because it brought the community together and focused on supporting a good cause, the United Way of Summit County, to which proceeds from the event were donated, said Melissa Mayberry and Nate Searles, Muffin Day co-chairs. “Main Street Gourmet has a long history of community involvement, and the organizations that have benefited from these efforts in the past were happy to support this one,†they added.
