UMBA takes cake contest to the public
The contest featured 18 decorators with four contestants competing in the wedding category and 14 competing in the birthday category.
Sunnie Guraedy of Arrowhead Miracle Mart, Minot, N.D., won first place in both the wedding and birthday categories and took home two $1,000 checks. Juliet Brutger of Divine Cakes, Paynesville, Minn. and Andrea Halleland of Erdmans County Market, Kasson, Minn. took second and third place respectively in the wedding category. In the birthday competition, Halleland took second and Brutger took third.
Brutger also claimed the Peoples Choice Awards in both categories. The public was invited to participate in the Peoples Choice by voting with a $1 suggested donation to the UMBA Scholarship Fund.
Guraedy completed a successful year of decorating championships after winning the 2006 Pillsbury Grand Championship sponsored by the RBA and the 2007 IDDBA Decorating Competition.
