Great Harvest and Brueggers display whole wheat stamp
Great Harvest offers a range of whole grain breads, and Bruegger’s whole wheat bagel features the stamp.
The Whole Grain’s Council designed three stamps, which help identify products that are significant sources of whole grains. The stamps are based on the USDA standard of 16 grams of whole grain as a food serving. “Good Source” products contain at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving, “Excellent Source” products contain at least 16 grams of whole grain, and “100% Excellent Source” products must contain at least 16 grams of whole grain and include no refined grain.
“Our customer research shows people are looking for balanced food options, including whole wheat products,” said Bruegger’s C.E.O. James Greco. “Grain-based foods are a natural source for vitamins, minerals, fiber and other substances that are important for good health and may help combat many chronic diseases.”
