Intralox, Harahan, La., was named a recipient of the 2010 Food Safety Leadership Award in the Innovation in Equipment Design category, presented by NSF International. The award recognizes Intralox’s FoodSafe technology.


Batory Foods, Des Plaines, Ill., received the distinguished Environmental Stewardship Award from Orion Energy Systems for its work in reducing energy consumption.


Master-Bilt, New Albany, Miss., appointed a new sales representative group, Dynamic Equipment Solutions, based in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Dynamic Equipment Solutions will service the Southern California and southern Nevada markets.


ConAgra Foods Inc. announced it will invest approximately $73 million and create more than 200 jobs at its new Elan Nutrition facility in Kentwood, Mich., which it acquired in April. A $9 million incentive package, provided by the city of Kentwood, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and nonprofit organization The Right Place Inc., will contribute to the development.

The Independent Bakers Association (IBA) presented Representatives Kathy Dahlkemper, D-Penn., and Mike Pence, R-Ind., with its 2010 Horst G. Denk Legislative Service Award. Each year, the IBA gives the award to two members of Congress based on their support of baking and food industry legislative issues.


King’s Hawaiian Bakery

King’s Hawaiian Bakery, Torrance, Calif., celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. It plans to mark the anniversary with added-value marketing efforts, including a downloadable recipe collection, social media contests and giveaways and other money-saving opportunities. Media relations efforts will include outreach to both print and broadcast outlets across the nation.


The Bakers Courtesy Club of Chicago will hold its 80th annual golf outing on July 21 at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club in Glendale Heights, Ill. Registration begins at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start planned for 8 a.m. and a buffet for 1 p.m. Fees are $120 for golf and lunch, $85 for golf only, $45 for lunch only. Members may bring a nonmember baker as a guest.
