Alvarado St. Bakery, Petaluma, Calif., launched California Style Complete Protein Bread. This 100 percent certified organic bread, which is made from sprouted wheat and sprouted legumes, is a complete, slow-carb, vegetarian protein source.
Immaculate Baking Co., Greenville, S.C., launched biscuits and scones in 16-oz. refrigerated dough packs. The line includes buttermilk biscuits and cinnamon chip, blueberry and cranberry orange scones. Immaculate's products are made with all natural ingredients and contain no saturated fats, hydrogenated oils, high-fructose corn syrup, or artificial flavors or colors. Refrigerated dough is reportedly a $2.4 billion category with biscuits representing 26 percent of the total category at $620 million in sales.
